The Systems Medicine Program at Georgetown collaborates with the Coordinating Action Systems Medicine (CASyM), a multidisciplinary European consortium that joined forces to develop an implementation strategy (road map) for Systems Medicine. The CASyM road map is driven by clinical needs: It aims to identify areas where a systems approach will address clinical questions and solve clinical problems.

CASYM Members include:

Mikael Benson, MD

Professor of paediatrics and systems medicine

Centre for Individualised Medicine
Department of paediatrics

Linköping University, Sweden

Prof. Dr. Damjana Rozman

Head of the Centre for Functional Genomics and Bio-Chips

Institute of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine

University of Ljubljana

Hans Westerhoff, Ph.D.

Director of Manchester Centre for Integrative Systems Biology (MCISB) and Director of Doctoral Training

Pine Biotech

The Systems Medicine program has recently initiated a collaboration with Pine Biotech, an education company that provides hands-on experiences in the use of BIG Data. This is very applicable to relevant areas like Personalized medicine and Drug-design.

The company hosted an in-person workshop on the use of Machine Learning for Transcriptomics Data in March to kick-off the collaboration.

The workshop was conducted by the company’s CEO Elia Brodsky and Dr. Vladimir Galatenko from Tauber Bioinformatics Research Center, Israel.
