Arezo Aziz

Arezo (Zoe) graduated from the Systems Medicine Program in 2018. After the program, she completed her nursing training at Columbia University and recently completed her doctoral training in nursing.

“As a first-generation professional, the weight of educational and career decisions can feel crippling. For me, it was important to find a path that allowed me to achieve my dreams of making a difference within healthcare without compromising what makes me who I am. Systems Medicine allowed me to build confidence in my abilities as a student and aspiring health professional in endless ways. Through coursework in epigenetics, health policy, and bioinformatics, I was able to hone my skills and focus my talents on a career that would allow me to help patients from underserved and immigrant communities, much like my own family.

As a newly minted doctorally trained nurse practitioner, I will bring my Systems Medicine knowledge base with me in the next steps of my career as an oncology clinician, researcher, and prospective professor. I will be spending my summer at the Mount Sinai Hospital as part of the TRAIN program (Translational research for NPs) and then will move on to my dream role as an NP fellow in Solid Tumor Medical Oncology at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering starting this fall!”
